Levon Helm, Steve Martin, Steve Earle and Ramblin' Jack win at the Grammys

February 1, 2010 Comments: 0

Levon Helm has taken the award for Best Americana Album at the Grammys for the second successive year, beating out Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel, Wilco and Lucinda Williams.
Helm won for Electric Dirt, the follow-up to last year's Dirt Farmer, his first solo album in a quarter of a century following his recovery from throat cancer that took away his voice.
Actor and comedian Steve Martin will be hosting the Oscars next month, but at the Grammys he got to taste what it's like to win an award, walking away with Best Bluegrass Album for The Crow: New Songs for the 5-String Banjo.
Ramblin' Jack Elliott topped the Best Traditional Blues Album category for A Stranger Here, while Steve Earle took the Contemporary Folk award for Townes, his reworking of songs by Townes Van Zandt.
