Gretchen Peters to marry keyboard player Barry Walsh; Rodney Crowell will officiate
Gretchen Peters has announced that she is to marry her longtime partner and keyboard player Barry Walsh on October 2.
The ceremony will be conducted in a Nashville churchyard by the couple’s friend, and ordained minister, Rodney Crowell.
“We've traveled thousands of miles together, shared impossibly small hotel rooms, suffered sleep deprivation and bad soundchecks, walked the streets of countless cities and the concourses of many airports, and shared transcendent moments both on stage and off,” Peters said in a note to her fans.
“We feel very, very lucky to be able to live this life together.”
The couple will be taking a short break from touring after the marriage, and have postponed a planned tour of continental Europe in November. They plan to reschedule it early next year, and Peters expects to be back in the UK in May 2011 with Matraca Berg and Suzy Bogguss for their Wine, Women and Song tour.
