The Canadians are coming! Canuck artists head for the UK
Canadian label Six Shooter Records has announced that two of its artists, Justin Rutledge and Luke Doucet, will be touring the UK in the autumn, adding to the influx of Canadians hitting our shores over the next few months.
A number of Canucks are already here. Po' Girl have embarked upon a substantial tour that runs from now until June 6, and Sarah MacDougall is here throughout May. Cam Penner arrives on May 19.
A number of Six Shooter's less rootsy signings will be in London, too, for the Canada Day celebrations in Trafalgar Square on July 1, and at the end of the summer, folk roots band Elliott BROOD has dates over three days at the End of the Road Festival in Wiltshire.
Rutledge, supporting his new album The Early Widows, arrives on September 21 for an England-only tour in company with Amelia Curran, a recent winner of one of Canada's prestigious Juno Awards.
Doucet, who was most recently here in May 2009 in company with his wife Melissa McClelland, has so far confirmed six dates in England in October, including at the Luminaire in London.
Singer-songwriter Alana Levandoski is expected back in the UK in October, while Gordie Tentrees, hailing from the northern Yukon and making his first visit to the UK, arrives in November.
Also expected later this year but yet to confirm dates are Canada's classic Americana band, Blue Rodeo. Popular female duo Madison Violet, regular visitors to our shores, are expected back in January and February 2011.
