Sarah Borges looks to fans to finance live DVD
Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles have turned to their fans to pay for the production of their first live DVD.
The Boston-based singer is asking her supporters to make a donation of at least $25, in return for which fans get their names in the liner notes and a copy of the DVD once it's produced. She needs to raise around $5,000.
"We've had so many requests for a DVD over the years, Borges said in a note to fans. "While we have been successful at touring and working consistently, we too are touched by the economic climate, as well as the changing landscape of the music industry. Understandably, all are having to tighten the proverbial belt a bit."
Borges stressed she has not broken her ties with record label Sugar Hill, but the label has chosen not to be involved with the DVD project.
The recording for the DVD took place on January 17 at The Livery in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
Details of how to donate can be found on Borges' website. Borges and her band will be touring the UK in April. All the dates are in the Backroads gig guide.
